“Albert Einstein once said, ‘We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.’ 

I am here in Bangkok, being more inspired than ever to create each moment differently. So sometimes the result is the same, and always the process is fresh. I am committed as ever to serve the best cause in life, explore the edge of myself, and bring new form to my work.

Less poetic than Einstein, but a wonderful alignment-commitment reminder can be often seen on my favourite Thai-humour souvenir t-shirt:

SAME SAME But DIFFERENT

May each of us find strength, encouragement and will to see our true possibilities and power residing in ourselves; let away the blame, with each step.
 
I appreciate and am truly grateful for my teachers, friends, clients and family. Thanks for being here.  

I think this might have been a better title for the conference. As the group came together, as exchange gained momentum, it became obvious.   

It is the very fabric of which we are a part - owners, contributors and shareholders.

We are co-creators, and its nature is interdependent.

The conference was curiously entitled “Japon face à la colère de la Terre” / Japan in the face of Earth’s fury*, inspired by a question I had earlier been asked about the (apparent) dichotomy of harmonious God/divine/universal* energy and the destructive “anger” of nature.

Why I spoke

Some of my happiest childhood memories are with my first-ever best friend Masaki and his sisters.

I grew up in Singapore with many Japanese expatriate families around me. It was late ‘70s/early ‘80s, and Japan was very present in Singaporean economy. My mother spoke Japanese, there are very dear Japanese friends and also family ties…

yet.

As a non-Japanese, I didn’t feel the right person to speak on this. I wasn’t there.

Contemplating interdependence – one of the 4 Noble Truths in the Buddha’s teachings – and the beauty of this country close to my heart, I was deeply saddened by the possibility that this beauty would be eradicated. I overcame the easier answer, and said yes.

My intention is to support this change, honouring universal intentionality to where we are going as humanity, part of our ecosystem.  

The ultimate fatalism is indifference

“Is it fatalism that shows as silent strength and that explains the stoicism?” I paraphrase the essence of one of the questions. My mind grappled to understand the question asked.  I didn’t associate fatalism with what I witnessed from afar.

For me, we are witnessing the expression of gaman. It’s like a forest of bamboo. Strong trunked trees in the wind may break. But the forest of bamboo, each so thin, sways precariously with the wind, together. Its allowing nature is its greatest strength and keeps it standing.  Young bamboos strengthen their roots as if increasingly trained by the wind. For me, there is life in this. Brute strength has its place, but I truly revere the strength of life.

As for fatalism, I think the expression is apt when we recognise a conflict, and we choose to ignore it.

The conflict that filtered up our consciousness as a group during the conference, is our insatiable energy “needs” against a huge cost (nuclear consequences, environment – flora, fauna, eco and future generations…). What makes the memorable difference between Japan 11 March 2011, the other March earthquakes - Yunnan 10, Myanmar 24, Haiti 12 Jan 2010 and Sichuan 12 May 2008 is not Richter, but nuclear.

We could recognise our different reactions to this…between blame (on government and decision-makers) and resistance (meaning - don’t change, and hope for the best). Search inside yourself if you truly believe we can change.  As one little me, of course I feel frustrated that I want something that seems so hard to be done: For everyone in the developed world to be responsible resource-energy consumers; for each one to recognise our true needs. In that global frustration, do we convince ourselves that it can’t be done?  Could this be the root of passive indifference?

The thing is: if we can’t even conceive of the possibility of changing, how could we motivate ourselves to take any one meaningful step in the direction of change? I invite you to dare to consider that you can change. Before we delve into the how, we need to be able to see that change is possible. The positive effort, discipline, initiative and ability to see what are our real needs – necessary for making any change – as individuals, communities and countries can then take momentum.

One person at a time, opening to the possibility, we are already the changing global consciousness.
May the unfolding experience of Japan, inspire us to be the forest of bamboo.

Avez-vous posé cette question? C'est une question valable. Beaucoup sont venus me demander, beaucoup se sont interoggés s'ils sont préparés pour faire ce travail.

Du point de vue d'un praticien:
"Les nouveaux clients qui viennent travailler sur leurs habitudes de functionnement, demandent souvent, "Combien de séances faut-il?" C'est une question valable! Ces sessions sont un investissement de temps, d'argent et d'efforts. Je demande en retour,"Comment, à quel objectif, exactement? "
Parlons-nous de combien de commencer à ressentir les effets de l'ouverture des blocs à votre belle force de vivre? Peut-être un!
Parlons-nous de combien de soutenir l'ouverture? Cela dépend de vous. Combien avant de vous sentir entièrement satisfait de votre vie? A cette question, je dis, cela ressemble à la complaisance. Il est important que nous soyons clair sur la question.

Peut-être la question pertinante est, "Combien de temps jusqu'à je resens si ce travail aide à mon évolution vers le bon sens?" Pour cette question, je dirais, trois ou quatre séances. Le temps qui necessite est variable pour chaqun de se sentir suffisamment en sécurité à se permettre véritablement à l'auto-rencontre que vous avez besoin. Il faut du temps pour prendre conscience des subtilités de blocage et d'ouverture.

La vérité est que beaucoup de mes clients travaillent avec moi sur une période de plusieurs années, non pas parce que c'est le temps qu'il faut. Plutôt, parce qu'après des années, ça fonctionne toujours! Il est toujours en faveur de l'évolution qu'ils souhaitent. Certains clients s'arrêtent pendant une période et reviennent pour un atelier motivés de stimuler l'évolution. Je sais que votre taux d'évolution se mesure en corrélation avec votre niveau d'engagement de vous faire vraiment face. Vous avez besoin d'aide pour voir ce que vous ne pouvez pas voir vous-même. Tandis que vous pouvez sentir la douleur de la résistance, ouvrez-vous à la possibilité que parfois, l'évolution mène à l'expansion et l'expansion mène au plaisir. Il en vaut la peine!"

Have you found yourself asking this question? This is a valid question. Many have come in to ask me; many have also checked in themselves on how prepared they are to do this work.

A practitioner's perspective: 
"New clients, who are coming to work on lifelong patterns, frequently ask, "How many sessions will it take?" It's a valid question!  These sessions are an investment of time, money, and effort.  I ask in return, "How many, to do what, exactly?"  
Are we talking about, how many to start feeling the effects of opening blocks to your beautiful Life Force? Could be one!  
Are we talking about how many to sustain opening? That depends on you. How many until you feel completely satisfied with your life?  To that I say, that sounds like complacency.  It's important to get clear on the question. 

Perhaps a better question is, "How long until I get a sense of whether this work is moving me in a good direction?" To that I would say, give it three or four sessions.  It takes varying amounts of time to feel safe enough to really allow the gentle confrontation that you need.  It takes time to become conscious of the subtleties of blocking and opening.  If you could have mastered this yourself, quickly, you would have.  The truth is many of my clients work with me over a period of years, not because that's how long it takes to "work".  Rather, because after years, it's still working! It's still supportive of the evolution they want.  Some clients stop for a while and come back for a workshop to get that evolutionary boost.  I DO know this, that your rate of evolution correlates pretty well with your level of commitment to really face yourself.  You need support to see what you cannot see for yourself.  While you may feel the pain of resistance, at times, evolution means expansion and expansion means pleasure. It's so worth it!"
